Pictures Of Two Model 9 Woofers Side by Side

Here are links to pictures of two model 9 woofers side by side. The one on the left is the older stamped frame version and the one on the right the later cast frame. The older one just came back from Bill?s reconed. Both have the same cone and foam and of note is the magnets are also identical. Both are deeper than the Model 14 mags. Hope you all find this helpful if not interesting.

Yes I notice the cork gasket is much beefier on the cast frame. I would assume Bill has a large stock of gasket material on hand for ALL Altec drivers. Is there any sonic difference that you can tell between the stamped frame driver and the cast framed one?

Hey Russ,
The stamped frame "9" does have a thinner outer frame and a thinner gasket. These versions were seated in a route-out relief about 1/8 inch deep so the frame would fit flush with the baffle. I can hear absolutley no difference in sound between the two versions.
